Overview

Tapture is developed by Elie Chahine. This policy explains what data we collect, who we share it with, and your rights. We believe in keeping things simple and transparent, so this page names every company that can see your content.

What Tapture Does

Tapture lets you save photos, screenshots, links and voice notes. The app uses AI to analyze your taptures, extracting text, generating summaries, and identifying key details so you can find things later. You sign in with Apple and your data syncs across your devices through your own iCloud account.

Your Consent to AI Processing

Analyzing a tapture means sending its contents to third-party AI services. We ask for your permission in the app before that happens for the first time, and you can change your mind later in Settings.

If you do not give permission, Tapture still works. Your taptures are saved on your device and in your library, they are simply not analyzed, summarized, or enriched.

Data We Collect

  • Photos and screenshots - images you save are sent to OpenAI for analysis (text extraction, summaries, and context detection).
  • Links - links you save, and text read from the linked page, are sent to OpenAI for analysis.
  • Voice notes - audio you record is sent to OpenAI for transcription and analysis.
  • Apple ID email - collected during Sign in with Apple for authentication.
  • User-generated content - notes, summaries, and extracted text are stored in our database.
  • Usage logs - we record each analysis request, including which website a saved link came from, linked to your account. We use this to enforce daily limits and to understand how the app is used. These logs are not sold or shared for advertising.

Location

If you use the map of places you saved, Tapture asks for permission to use your location while you are using the app. Your position is used on your device to show you on the map, to estimate travel time, and to notice when you arrive at a place you saved so it can remind you. Tapture does not send your own location to our servers.

Separately, when a saved place needs details such as opening hours, the coordinates of that place are sent to Google Places. Those are the coordinates of the place you saved, not your own position.

Who We Share Data With

These are every third party that can receive your content or information. They act as our processors and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

  • OpenAI (United States) - images, links, page text, and voice recordings, for analysis and transcription.
  • Supabase, hosted on Amazon Web Services (United States) - stores your account and your taptures.
  • Apple - Sign in with Apple for authentication, and iCloud for syncing your library between your own devices.
  • Google Places - the name or coordinates of a place you saved, to fetch details such as address, hours and ratings.
  • TMDB - the title of a film or show you saved, to fetch details and artwork.
  • Open Library - the title of a book you saved, to fetch details and cover art.
  • Apple iTunes Search - the name of a podcast, album or app you saved, to fetch details and artwork.
  • Resend - your email address, only when we need to send you an email such as a weekly summary.

We will update this list before adding any new processor. If we ever add one that changes how your content is handled, we will ask for your permission again.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Your contacts
  • Health or fitness data
  • Financial or payment information
  • Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Supabase, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your data is transferred to the United States for storage and processing.

Your Rights and Choices

  • Withdraw permission for AI analysis - you can turn off AI analysis in Settings at any time. Taptures you save after that are stored without being analyzed.
  • Delete your account - you can delete your account and all associated data from Settings.
  • Request data deletion - under GDPR and CCPA, you can request deletion of your data by emailing support@tapture.app.
  • Data portability - you can request a copy of your data by contacting us.

No Selling, No Ads, No Tracking

We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not track you across apps or websites. Your data is used solely to provide the Tapture service.

Children's Privacy

Tapture is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
