Overview

Tapture is developed by Elie Chahine. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We believe in keeping things simple and transparent.

What Tapture Does

Tapture lets you save photos, screenshots, and links. The app uses AI to analyze your captures - extracting text, generating summaries, and identifying key details so you can find things later. You sign in with Apple and your data syncs across your devices.

Data We Collect

  • Photos and screenshots - images you save to Tapture are sent to OpenAI's API for analysis (text extraction, summaries, and context detection).
  • URLs and links - links you save are sent to OpenAI's API for content analysis.
  • Apple ID email - collected during Sign in with Apple for authentication purposes.
  • User-generated content - notes, summaries, and extracted text are stored in our database.
  • Basic usage logs - anonymous analytics to help us improve the app. These are never shared with third parties.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Location data
  • Contacts
  • Health or fitness data
  • Financial or payment information
  • Advertising identifiers or tracking data

Third-Party Data Processing

Tapture uses OpenAI's API to analyze your photos, screenshots, and links. When you save a capture, the image or URL is sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI's API operates with zero data retention - they do not store your data or use API inputs to train their models.

By using Tapture, you consent to your content being processed by OpenAI as described above. This is covered in our Terms of Service.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Supabase, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.

Your Rights and Choices

  • Disable cloud analysis - you can turn off AI analysis in Settings at any time.
  • Delete your account - you can delete your account and all associated data from Settings.
  • Request data deletion - under GDPR and CCPA, you can request deletion of your data by emailing support@tapture.app.
  • Data portability - you can request a copy of your data by contacting us.

No Selling, No Ads, No Tracking

We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not track you across apps or websites. Your data is used solely to provide the Tapture service.

Children's Privacy

Tapture is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
